Re: Don't Forget to Post Your Reviews

Sorry Guys, I tried to read the book but just could not get past the Brothel scenes with Luca being the same age as my son. It's not often that I stop reading a book but I just couldn't stomach the book. I'm more sensitive than most I guess! The Kite Runner scenes of abuse bothered me also but I finished the book. It was in no comparison to these scenes.

I hope that there is another book club as I would love to get through the book next time! I second the suggestions for The Gifted Gabaldon Sisters by Lorraine Lopez or The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry.

Re: What do you think so far about Immortal??

I just started reading Immortal and have gotten to the part with Luca in the brothel. I am not sure that I can get through this section and need your advice for those who have read it. I have a 9 year old son and it's painful to read this part! Although I reminded myself that the narrator Luca, definitely does not sound like a 9 year old child! He sounds like an adult or teen to me. IMO, most 9 year olds don't think or talk like Luca.

Is this section long and can I get through it with out nightmares?! Does the book improve or is there more things like this?

Thanks you guys!

Hi Everyone,

I'm Bonnie from Redlady's Reading Room.
I am new to the blogging world and started my blog a few months ago.

I just read Jennifer's post about the book club at Literate Housewife and
decided to jump on the bandwagon and join! I have to get a copy of the
book this week and start reading! It looks like a great book.

My name is Bonnie and I'm married to a great guy and we have one son who is about to turn 10 years old. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 10 years but will be returning to my original career in the next few weeks. Fortunately, I can work very part time flexible hours during my son's school day. I work in the healthcare field as an Occupational Therapist. I live in Ohio outside of the Cleveland Area. I am an avid reader and have had a love of books since I won a reading contest in the first grade! A memory that I will never forget. I am in a F2F book club that I started in my neighborhood about 5 years ago. It's not going the way I originally intended and has become more of a social group. For me, I want to talk books and have some social time but not the other way around! I have decided to step away from the group in the next month and am considering checking out a few library book clubs to find my niche. This online book club comes at the perfect time for me!

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and discussing the book!

Jennifer-Thanks so much for hosting the book club!
